Anxiety and depression are cyclical and recurrent, moving in and out of significance, up and down in intensity, riding the waves. #mentalhealthawareness is the embodiment of my mind from good times, through “normality”, to the raw core of absolute, ultimate, crushing, infinite nothingness.
This work has no “right way up” and can be rotated to fit a mood. Rotating the image illustrates the consuming emotions of depression and conversely the reopening of the mind to better times.
#mentalhealthawareness was selected for the second Society for Embroidered Work international exhibition Surface & Depth in Rome, October 2021.
